Everything comes depending on the moment

Self-taught artist, Eric, since his childhood, has made all forms of artistic creations:

From poetry to music, from painting to clay sculpture, as well as countless experiments with chemical materials (solvent-based paints, cast plexiglass, etc.).

Independently, an electrician by trade, light has always fascinated him.

He will go through different trades which will offer him a little souvenir each time: iron and aluminum shavings, cellular concrete, obsolete street lighting balls.

In the meantime, he took a short training course as a stonemason at the Association des Compagnons du Duty du Tour de France. Then, he practices sculpture on limestone.

To this day, he is particularly fond of a limestone discovered in the Périgord.

In 2013, he created a "UFO Project": exhibition of outdoor lamps at the FLAC in Anglet.

In recent years, he will discover the work of colored glass.

Currently, his creations are made of stone and glass.

Each of his light sculptures is the realization of his poetic dreams.

                      Artistic approaches

The different colors of the sky and all its variations have always inspired me and still inspire me.

The sculpture is the body and the light the heart that animates it.

This project consists of immersing the viewer in different universes depending on the themes addressed.

Current works of art often need external light to be highlighted.

I wanted my works to be light sources themselves while illuminating the environment.

Thus, the desire not to use any external luminous flux is essential because the sculpture uses its own well-defined colors, which is what characterizes its uniqueness.

I use white stone and white walls which allow the colors of the light flow emanating from the sculptures to be deposited on the surrounding walls like colors on a painting.

Through my immersive creations, I seek to reveal my vision and my feelings regarding the humanist themes that I address, such as anchoring, fulfillment, love and letting go.

The three main themes “my roots”, “energies” and “letting go” emerge from my creations, seeming different yet they mingle and fit perfectly into the story of my life.

“My roots” continue to expand and strengthen day after day.

The “energies”, these sources of love, passion, compassion continue to radiate even beyond my creations.

“Let go”, of course, sometimes seems so difficult, meditation, or just taking the time to clear my head helps me in this sense to refocus on my heart and on my artistic antics.

- My roots: “Océane”, “Fleur d’ envie”, “Epitres”, “Have of peace”.

      - Energies: “It’s the most important heart”, “Cocoon”, “Blooming”.

-Let go : "Dénouement", "Flight", "Bonfire", "At the source".

Technique for creating a artwork

The creation of a light sculpture begins with a sketch on paper following a predefined theme. With oil pastel, I draw the first rough lines on a block of stone.

The openings in the sculpture are cut with carefully considered angles

depending on the central light source.

After a few thousand scissor cuts, with various sandings and a coat of varnish,

the body of work is almost complete.

Then comes the glass work: I cut and assemble different colored glasses then I melt them together. After a multitude of trials of different glass pieces, I choose the one that seems perfect to insert and saddle into the sculpture.

All I have to do is insert the ceramic socket and its white light LED spot.

The work is finally finished.

Each sculpture has its own identity, its own universe.

“From paper to stone,

From poetry to light. »
